General Help: Creating and Managing Profiles
- How do I change my profile settings?
-
Hover over your user name in the upper right-hand corner. Then, select Settings from the drop-down menu.
From the settings menu you can: Change your password, set up automated giving, connect to Facebook, specify what contact information is visible to nonprofits to whom you've donated, unsubscribe from email alerts, and more.
- How do I set up a profile for my organization, nonprofit, or business?
-
Hover over your user name in the upper right-hand corner and select Settings from the drop-down menu. Choose Create Another Profile from the menu on the left. Fill in the required fields and click the "Create Profile" button.
- Do I need a profile for my business?
-
No you don't need one, but if you want to make charitable donations on your company's behalf, you could create a company profile. In addition, it may help you to have your company Workplace Giving Account associated with a separate company profile, so as to only see payroll deductions in your account rather than all transactions that you make on your personal profile.
- Do I need a profile for my nonprofit?
-
Yes. When you manage a profile in addition to your personal CivChoice profile, such as for a nonprofit, you must switch between your personal profile and your nonprofit profile in order to perform various transactions.
For example, if you want to redeem a donation given to your nonprofit, you must be using CivChoice as your verified nonprofit profile to have access to the redeem action.

- I've created additional profiles. How do I switch between them?
-
To switch between profiles, log in to CivChoice. Hover over your name in the top right corner of the screen, and you'll see a drop-down list of all of the profiles that you manage. Simply choose a profile from the list to switch.
- Claiming an existing nonprofit profile.
-
Most IRS registered 501(c)(3) organizations already have a profile created on CivChoice. Claiming your nonprofit's existing profile is simple. First, determine which individual in your nonprofit will administer your organization's CivChoice profile. That individual will need to create a personal profile before claiming the organization's profile.
Once the personal profile has been created, this individual can then visit your nonprofit's profile and follow the instructions for claiming the profile at the bottom right-hand section of the page.

- Redeeming Funds
-
Redeeming your funds is easy once your nonprofit's profile has been claimed on CivChoice. After the profile is claimed and verified, you will receive a notification via email whenever a donation is made to your organization, including donor information if the donor has agreed to provide it. To redeem funds, just click on the Withdraw Donations link in navigation bar at the top of your profile page and put the donation to work for your good cause. It's as easy as that!

- What is workplace giving, and how does it work?
-
Work Place Giving is a partnership with CivChoice and a company that allows employees to fund their accounts on CivChoice through automatic payroll deductions. when employees are paid, amounts that they choose are deducted from their paychecks just like deductions for other benefits, and the amount is deposited in the employee's CivChoice account, where it is available to give to any nonprofit organization in the United States.
If you work for a company that has a workplace giving plan with CivChoice, ask your HR department to help you get started. If your company isn't currently participating, ask them to contact us to help add workplace giving to your company's benefits package.
